background: channel 10 CBS affiliate in Roswell-Carlsbad, New Mexico, United States. satellite of KRQE. launched February 24, 1966, currently owned by Nexstar Media Group. on April 1st, 1966 the station and its FM station's tower on the Caprock collapsed. a new tower was in its place by September, and the license was transferred to Holsum, Incorporated in 1970. on the morning of May 31, 1977 the studios on Main Street caught on fire, causing the station to go off the air for 10 days. New studios were set up at 214 North Main Street (which is the current location). in February 1989 the New Mexico Broadcasting Company purchased the station. in 1998 KBIM-TV, KRQE, and KREZ-TV were rebranded as CBS Southwest. in 2000 KBIM-TV and KRQE were sold to Emmis Corporation, and in 2005 were sold to LIN Media. local newscasts ended on December 12, 2008
